Biography

Dan Frazier Dan has lived in Colorado most of his life. He received his Bachelors of Fine Arts degreee at the University of Colorado in 1969. He taught Art in the public schools for 20 years. He started illustration in the Gaming industry in 1990. With the support of his wife Kathy, he managed to acquire enough work to soon become a full time illustrator. He did some early work for a card game called “Magic the Gathering”, which became an international hit. He has enjoyed the benefits of its success.

In 1999 he published a book of his works called, The Art of Dan Frazier: A Touch of Fantasy. It presented a large variety of his skills in different painting media as well as commentary on being an illustrator.

As an artist doing work for Wizards of the Coast, Dan has been asked to do many personal appearances in the United States, Europe and South America. It has been an enjoyable way for him and his wife to see much of the world.

He has studied the academic method of classical portraiture in the manner of the old masters. Dan visited Rembrandt’s studio and made several copies of works of the old master that now hang in his house.

The current thrust of his work is fine art. He is enjoying the creating of still lifes, landscapes and even abstracts.

Now, he is a happy freelance artist / illustrator who works in his studio at his Boulder home, unless he is on a trip. He enjoys his lifestyle and if he were to retire, few things he does would change.
