Faux Fossils
Deco Fossils are hung without frames. Anchors are imbedded into the reverse surface and hold the hanging wire. Since a 4 foot tall piece may weigh only three pounds, it is dramatically lighter than visually expected. At installation special reinforcement is not needed. A picture hook nail in drywall is usually adequate. However, spot lighting will help bring out the relief and color in the images.

Modern homes and offices have unusual spaces. Traditional rectangular framed art may not be the best design solution. Deco Fossils can be created in many shapes and sizes to fit unique spots. They can be hung, singly or grouped as diptychs or even triptychs.
A Deco Fossil is very light. GatorBoard provides a base 1 or 1.5 inches thick. Gesso, polymers and acrylics along with other materials create the basic textured surface and color. Metallic paints and patinas frequently add to the surface. The “bones” are done in relief and usually finished in oil. |
